The Center for Integrity in News Reporting held its first awards dinner honoring impartial reporting at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
Rose Hoban and her team at NC Health News won an award for digital reporting for their coverage of BCBS in North Carolina.
Judges comment: "This piece of journalism effectively covered an issue impacting North Carolina, using thorough research, diverse perspectives, and visual aids like infographics to enhance understanding. Reporting incorporating multiple viewpoints and factual data can provide a comprehensive view of complex issues. It’s great to see journalists employing such techniques to inform their audience effectively.”
Other winners included Paul Pringle of the Los Angeles Times with his coverage into leadership of the Los Angeles Fire Department; CNN for its investigation into sexual assault cover-ups at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy
