Freelance writers

Carolina Public Press is seeking multiple freelance writers to join our pool of talented journalists across North Carolina. We are an independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan online news organization that provides in-depth and investigative coverage of public-interest issues affecting North Carolina residents. We are interested in a diverse range of writers with specialties that could include business, health care and education, as well as generalists. We are doing hard news and news features, generally not profiles or pure features. We especially need writers in the Triad, Charlotte-area and northeastern portion of the state, but will consider those from other parts of the state. Once we decide to work with a writer, we generate regular assignments, though we also like to hear pitches from freelancers. Successful candidates will have experience writing in-depth or investigative stories for newspapers or similar publications.
