The Salisbury Post, a newspaper covering the city of Salisbury and Rowan County in North Carolina's Piedmont, is seeking a full-time reporter to cover K-12 education and local colleges.
The Salisbury Post is located in the heart of downtown Salisbury ? halfway between Charlotte, North Carolina's largest city, and Greensboro and Winston-Salem. The reporter's primary beat responsibility will be Rowan-Salisbury Schools, an 18,000-student district that's been given one-of-a-kind, charter-like flexibility by state government. Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, Catawba College and Livingstone College are also important parts of the beat. Rowan County has a large population of homeschoolers, too.
The ideal candidate will have one to two years of experience, a bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field, a strong grasp of AP style, know how to effectively use social media to disseminate news, basic photography skills and familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite. We will consider new graduates with strong internship experience.
