The (Shelby) Star is a daily print and online publication that focuses on what matters to Cleveland County residents. Reporters are expected to be versatile with the ability to cover subjects from county and municipal governments to feature and business stories. The ideal candidate should be able to think about how articles, and corresponding photos, will play online and in print.

The Star is located in Shelby, North Carolina, which is in western Piedmont, about an hour from Charlotte and is part of the USA Today network.

Reporters generally work Monday through Friday with occasional weekend work.

Candidates should provide writing samples with their résumé.
