Assistant editor

Cherokee Scout
Murphy, North Carolina

Top-notch reporter/editor needed

The Cherokee Scout, the primary news source for Cherokee County, N.C., since 1889, is looking for an assistant editor to head up our local news coverage. The assistant editor serves as the local newspaper’s senior staff writer, covering the most important news every week, while also helping the editor oversee the rest of the news operation. The right candidate will be a very good writer and an even better reporter, someone who cares deeply about accuracy, ethics and integrity while also being a fun person to work with. Photography, design and website skills would all be assets; the Scout uses Apple computers, Adobe software and Nikon cameras. This full-time position with benefits is a great opportunity to make a positive difference in a rural mountain community that still produces an incredible amount of news.
