The editor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the newsroom.

Our Editor leads the effort and team in producing quality news coverage and oversees all other company publications, including our website content and special sections including a recreational magazine. The Editor manages, coaches and leads staff, and contributing writers.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Managing Editor is responsible for:

Assigning projects

Ensuring the editing team meets its deadlines. Hiring and training new reporters and correspondents. Community relations.

Creates editorial budget and calendars.

Supervising the content creation process from writing through editing and publishing.

Managing and recruiting a team of freelancers

Managing Editor Skills and Qualifications

The successful editor must have technical and leadership skills, strong writing and editing skills, working knowledge of layout. The successful candidate will have strong time management skills and prioritize projects and set realistic expectations, priorities, and deadlines for the staff.

The ability to collaborate with teams from other organizations

Education and Training Requirements

The successful editor should have a bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field, such as English or communications, and possess writing and editing skills at a master level.
