Post editor Elizabeth Cook will retire at end of 2018

Former president of the N.C. Press Association in 1999-2000

This will be Elizabeth Cook's final year as editor of the Salisbury Post. She has been an editor for 25 years.

Cook, 62, looks forward to spending more time with family after she retires.

There has only been one other editor at the Post that has served longer than Cook, and Cook was also the first female editor at the 133-year-old paper.

“Elizabeth Cook has been a fantastic editor for the Salisbury Post,” Post Publisher Greg Anderson said. “Elizabeth’s talent, wisdom, experience and professionalism will be deeply missed, almost as much as we will miss working alongside her."

The Post will look for a new editor from within and outside of the paper.

However, this isn't the last the Post will be seeing of Cook. She hopes to contribute stories to the paper during her retirement.
