The North Carolina Press Foundation's Newspaper in Education program offers 10-hour workshops that demonstrate effective ways to use newspapers for teaching and learning. With prior approval from your school systems, you receive one reading credit for attending the 10-hour workshops. You also receive curricula that include graphic organizers. Activities in the teaching guides focus on informational text and address goals outlined in the NC Standard Course of Study. NCPF's NIE program also offers one-day workshops on request. An NIE workshop focusing on problems models the use of newspapers' print, e-Edition and Web editions and addresses 21st century skills as well as skills and content in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study
