The North Carolina Press Foundation's Newspaper in Education program offers 10-hour workshops that demonstrate effective ways to use newspapers for teaching and learning. With prior approval from your school systems, you receive one reading credit for attending the 10-hour workshops. You also receive curricula that include graphic organizers. Activities in the teaching guides focus on informational text and address goals outlined in the NC Standard Course of Study. Any school, school system or regional education alliance interested in hosting the training should contact sandynie@unc.edu or call the NC Press Foundation's NIE program at (919) 843-5648 for more information.
