Why use the NCPS Press Release Service?
It is a fast, convenient, economical way to deliver your news to 177 daily and weekly newspaper editors in North Carolina. Newspapers are more likely to read press releases sent out by their association.

What format can I send you the press release in?
Word documents (.doc), Text (.txt) or Rich Text Format (.rft) are preferred.  Photo attachments should be sent as a .jpg or .tif.

What are your deadlines?
You may submit a press release at any time.

How soon will you send my press release out?
NCPS can deliver your press release to virtually all of North Carolina’s newspapers within hours of receiving your release or on any day you select.

How do you send press releases?
Press releases will be sent via e-mail to a database of newspaper editors that we maintain.

Does your contact list include all the newspapers in North Carolina?
It includes all NCPA member newspapers. The current number of members includes 44 daily newspapers, 129 community newspapers and four online newspapers.

Do I have to send my press release statewide or can I send it to just some of the papers in the state?
NCPS offers distribution statewide to 177 newspapers, as well as distribution to newspapers in the Eastern region or in the Western region.

Does NCPS guarantee that my press release will be published?
NCPS is a distribution source only, so we do not guarantee publication nor does NCPS endorse any press releases submitted. We only guarantee distribution of the press release to newspaper contacts in our database. NCPS adds a disclaimer to all press releases that we do not endorse the press release.

How will I know if my press release was published?
NCPS does not guarantee publication or supply tearsheets for press releases. You may contact a clipping service directly to seek assistance in verifying publication of your press release. You may want to contact Burrells Luce at 1-800-368-8070 or www.burrellsluce.com.

What makes the NCPS Press Release Service different from other press release services?
We have better contacts in North Carolina than any of our competitors. The newspaper contacts are taken from our regularly updated membership database.

How quickly do the media use my press release?
Daily and weekly newspapers may use it within a few days or a couple of weeks. Often the time to see your release in print is based upon two key factors: One - how newsworthy is your event? Two - Is there something else happening in the news that your press release fits in with?
