Still looking for those who Tweet, Facebook
NCPA is interested in doing a story about how our members are using social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook to expand their reach and inform users. If your newspaper uses this type of media, let us know. Drop us a line by clicking here.
The deadline is in your rearview mirror
Today being Oct. 8 and the deadline for the News, Editorial & Photojournalism Contest having been Oct. 5, the submission period for entries has officially ended. While your part of the job is at an end, we have a large job ahead of us sorting through all the entries, categorizing them and getting them ready for judging. Remember to mark March 18 on your calendar. That’s when we’ll present the winners with their awards at the Winter Institute in the Dean Dome at UNC-CH. And remember, we don’t let winners of General Excellence know who they are until the awards ceremony – another big reason to attend.
Support sought for federal bill to require publication
With two North Carolina congressmen co-sponsoring HR 2727, the Financial Transparency Act, the NCPA strongly urges its membership to support and editorialize in favor of the bill that would restore the required publication of financial institutions' statement of condition as newspaper public notices. Sponsors include Rep. Walter Jones, 3rd District-R, and Rep. Brad Miller, 13th District-D. Members are asked to contact their representatives to encourage passage.
