ISO talented designer
The Index-Journal Co. in Greenwood, SC is looking for a page designer who wants to grow and expand his or her talents on multiple levels as there is opportunity to do more than newspaper design.
We are a locally owned company that not only publishes a daily newspaper, but also magazines, events brochures, special sections and more. Ours is the ideal environment for the creative person who wants to and can do more than cookie-cutter work and who seeks a career in which he or she can flourish and make a mark.
The ideal candidate possesses strong design skills using Adobe InDesign. The ideal candidate should also possess strong language skills, as a wordsmith, proofreader and communicator.
In the past five years, our newspaper alone has collected nearly 140 South Carolina Press Association awards, a number of them for page design. So yes, our expectations for this candidate are high. We've won the President's Cup, a points-based honor given to the best newspaper in each circulation category. We've placed in General Excellence (overall newspaper award) three of the last five years. Awards-wise, it's the most successful stretch in our newspaper's history.
Want to join our award-winning team? Want to work at a company not tied to the corporate structure, endlessly slashing staff in hopes of generating more money for stockholders? Want to work where high quality is the paramount objective? Newspaper experience preferred, but will consider other candidates.
To apply, send your resume, a cover letter and 5-10 page-design clips via regular mail or email to: Richard Whiting Executive Editor P.O. Box 1018 Greenwood, SC 29648 firstname.lastname@example.org No phone calls please.
